Woodpeckers

I went up to Palo Duro Reservoir last week with my son. We log about 20 species of birds including this Hairy Woodpecker that he was able to get a shot of.Hairy Woodpecker (2)Ladder-backed Woodpeckers

and Northern Flickers (this is a red-shafted sub-species)Northern Flicker (72) (1024x684) are year-round residents, Downy WoodpeckersDowny Woodpecker (4) (1280x781) are occasionally logged and Red-headed Woodpeckers

are common summer birds, but this is the first Hairy Woodpecker I’ve seen.
