Painted Buntings

Painted Buntings are one of the more colorful songbirds we see here in the Panhandle each summer.  They are pretty easy to spot, not only because of the color, but because of their distinctive song.  I haven’t seen any for the last week or so.  I guess they’ve headed south already. Here’s a couple of adult males from last summer.
