I’ve had a Curve-billed Thrasher visiting my yard almost since the day I started birding. Oddly, it’s the only place I’ve ever seen one, although they are supposed to be fairly common for this area. I was outside filling the bird feeders this afternoon in anticipation of the cold front we were expecting (it hit around 1800 with 50+ kph winds and temps have dropped from 29°C to 2°C in the last 4 hours) when two of them showed up. One was rather shy and stayed up in the mulberry tree hidden in the leaves, but this one was quite bold and agreed to pose for me. I really like these birds. They have a stern, rather grumpy countenance but are actually quite raucous and vocal.
