A Couple of Wrens

Rock Wrens are year round residents here in the Texas Panhandle and in the spring their songs echo in the canyons around Lake Meredith. They are pretty quiet this time of year though and so are harder to find. I was lucky enough to run across this one as I was walking one cold morning around Spring Canyon.Rock Wren (162) (1024x644) Rock Wren (163) (1024x660)

Marsh Wrens are winter visitors and are pretty easy to find because they are rather noisy with their chattering as they forage among the cattails.  They are hard to photograph-they don’t sit still for more than a few seconds.Marsh Wren (13) (1024x693)
