American White Pelicans

A couple of days ago the weather was warm enough and the wind was still enough that I hauled my kayak out to the lake and paddled around the southern end for a few hours. The water is pretty shallow and there are a lot of reed beds that harbor waterfowl and blackbirds by the score. Came upon this flock of about a hundred American Wite pelicans and maybe 50 or 60 Double-crested Cormorants and a dozen or so Ring-billed Gulls. I had seen them flying in earlier and was trying to get into position for some photos when a fisherman in a power boat came up the channel and startled them. Still got some good photos.American White Pelican (1) (1024x456)American White Pelican (2) (1024x456)American White Pelican (3) (1024x684)American White Pelican (4) (1024x522)American White Pelican (5) (1024x626)American White Pelican (6) (1024x630)American White Pelican (7) (1024x562)American White Pelican (8) (1024x779)American White Pelican (9) (1024x667)American White Pelican (11) (1024x612)American White Pelican (13) (1024x602)American White Pelican (14) (1024x683)American White Pelican (15) (1024x707)American White Pelican (18) (1024x684)American White Pelican (20) (1024x655)American White Pelican (21) (1024x607)American White Pelican (22) (1024x684)American White Pelican (39) (1024x673)
