Clark’s and Western Grebes

I went paddling again this morning on Lake Meredith.  The new kayak, a Riot Edge, isn’t as steady or roomy as the Heritage Angler I have and so I’ve been a little reluctant to take the camera out with me, but I finally built up the nerve to do it today and was happy that I did. I hadn’t seen the Clark’s Grebes in 10 days or so, even though I’ve been out at the lake several times. I had given up on finding them this morning and was heading back to the truck when I stopped to stretch my legs at a sandbar just before getting out of the weeds and cattails and into open water. I was about to get back into the boat when I saw something swimming about 100 meters out. it was the grebes.  Last I had seen them there was a couple of adults and a smaller juvenile and 3 tiny chicks. Today there was 4 adults (two were possibly juveniles, couldn’t tell the difference) and what I think is a pair of Western Grebes.  I’m sure someone will correct me if I’m wrong.
