I saw this Pectoral Sandpiper this morning at Lake Meredith’s Spring Canyon. They aren’t onsidered unusual for the area during migration, but this is the first time I’ve seen one. I had to see the photos before I could ID it-sandpipers tend to look the same to me, although this one is easier than a lot of them because of its longish 2-tone bill and green legs. It’s also a bit larger than a lot of peeps (a collective term for small hard to identify shorebirds.) This kind of stuff is why I get up so stinking early in the morning and go stomp around in the cold.
