Palo Duro Canyon

I visited Palo Duro Lake on Thursday in the northern part of the panhandle and then on Friday I drove south an hour or so to the central part of the panhandle to Palo Duro Canyon.  I saw several birds that I hadn’t yet seen this year, but unfortunately, I had not charged my camera battery is a while and it died on me shortly after I got there. I was able to get a few nice photos, though, and along with some pictures from a week earlier I’ve enough to make a nice post.

Black-headed Grosbeak female

Lesser goldfinch female

Lesser Goldfinch male

Swainson’s Thrush, although to be honest, I’m basing this on the fact that Hermit Thrush was flagged as rare on ebird for this area, this time of year, when I entered it, and Swainson’s Thrush wasn’t.
