The southwestern end of lake Meredith was crawling with Western and Clark’s Grebes this morning. I took advantage of the beautiful weather and got the kayak out early and mad a 9-mile circuit around the SW part of the lake. It is only the second time I’ve had a chance to get out on the water this year. The first was earlier this month and I saw a couple of Western Grebes and quite a few Eared Grebes then.
3 of the 6 Clark’s Grebes that were there this morning.
One of the 8 Western Grebes I saw.
Eared Grebe from earlier this month.
A Horned Grebe that spent a few days at Spring Canyon earlier this month.
I also saw these American White Pelicans today.
And a tree full of Double-crested Cormorants with chicks.
