Cloudy Morning at Palo Duro Lake

Last week I made the hour-long drive up into Hansford County to Palo Duro Lake North of Spearman. It was cloudy and taking photos was difficult, but I did get a few decent photos of some of the birds I saw there.

There are about one hundred Double-crested Cormorants nesting there. Here’s a few of them.

I also saw a Bald Eagle. Occasionally a pair will nest in a Cottonwood grove a mile or so north of the lake. I only saw the one, so I don’t know if it has a mate. If not, it will probably head north in a week or so.

This Great Egret is also on it’s way north for the sumer.
