Mergansers and Loons

Last week at Lake Meredith’s Spring Canyon there was a couple of pairs of Red-breasted Mergansers. I was unable to get photos of the females but the males were a bit more cooperative. Red-breasted mergansers are rare at the lake but I have seen them there a few other times over the last 10 years that I’ve been birding.

These Common Merganser females were at Bugbee Canyon along with some American Coots.

There has been a pair of Common Loons between Cedar Canyon and Fritch Fortress for the last week or so as well.
