I returned from Missouri on Sunday and went to Spring Canyon this morning. Spring Canyon is really just the Canadian River Valley right below the Sanford-Yake Dam. There are several ponds and sloughs and a lot of marshy wetlands. It’s pretty easy to access from the southeast end of the dam. The birding isn’t always that great but this morning it was pretty good-I spotted 20 or more different birds in about 30 minutes and had a good walk in the process.
Spotted Sandpiper

Western Grebe

Common Loon

Ring-billed Duck

Wilson’s Phalarope

Greater Yellowlegs

Canada Geese and goslings

Black-necked Stilts

American Avocets

Snowy Egret

You always see such great birds at Spring Canyon, Mark!
