I combined three of my favorite hobbies this week and took several photos of birds while kayaking on the southwest end of Lake Meredith. It was a lot easier a few years ago when the lake was not quite so full and I was not quite so old, but I was able to manage the two-mile paddle from Harbor Bay down to where the birds are. I wish I had managed to get out back in April and May when migration was still going on, but I just couldn’t seem to work up the courage to face that cold water.
Anyway, here are a few of the birds I saw.
Orchard Oriole

Bullock’s Oriole

Snowy Plover
Western Grebe
Double-Crested Cormorants

Looks like a great place to kayak and absolutely incredible snips Mark!
You simply put a spell on me with these lovely birds, loved every one of them!
This reminds me of an incredible kayaking journey on ‘River Mahaweli’ I took on the beautiful island nation of Sri Lanka. We kayaked in the day and camped in the river bank in the night and it was undoubtedly a little piece of heaven on earth.
I didn’t forget to log it under my travel memoirs in here >>
